Four pieces of public evidence make it impossible for anyone, the founder or this app included, to choose the winner or know it in advance.

  1. Step 1 · Before sales

    Our secret is locked in

    Before the first ticket is sold we pick a secret and publish its fingerprint. The fingerprint can't be turned back into the secret, but it proves the secret never changes.

  2. Step 2 · At lock-up

    Every ticket is sealed

    When sales close, the whole ticket list is sealed into one code. Add, remove or change a single ticket and the seal breaks.

  3. Step 3 · At the draw

    A public random number

    The draw uses drand, a public random number made every few seconds by the League of Entropy. Nobody, not even us, can know it before it comes out.

  4. Step 4 · After the draw

    Your browser checks it

    We reveal the secret. Your own browser mixes the secret, the seal and the drand number with the same public maths, and gets the same winner.
